Central Region Workshop

Robert held a workshop for the Victorian Central Region on July 4 hosted by Vicki Hilder of Bywong Alpacas at her Lancefield property.

This was well attended by over 40 breeders from the AAA Central Victorian region as well as from other AAA regions.

The workshop consisted of three sessions. The morning session consisted of developing marketing strategies for the alpaca studs in attendance,

A sales strategy session kicked off the afternoon, developing on from the marketing plans developed in the morning.

Then the final session was a herd health discussion reviewing data and information Canchones uses to manage their breeding program and animal health. The importance of keeping accurate data for use by both the breeder and their vets was highlighted using case studies from the Canchones herd.

The AAA Central region had levied a small charge for attendance and all funds raised will be used within the region.

World Cup Soccer

Rene with his Australian "Cheer Leader" scarf

Rene with his Australian "Cheer Leader" scarf

At Canchones, we often have veterinary students or other people visiting and staying on the farm to learn how to work with alpacas on a large scale farm.

Over the past few months we have had a young German man, Rene Grundmann who has been working at the Canchones' Taggerty property.

With the upcoming Football World Cup in South Africa, there has been much discussion about both Australia's and Germany's prospects. We are all looking forward to the opening match between Australia and Germany.

After much discussion, Rene has decided to support the Australian soccer team at the World Cup.

His decision to abandon his home team, Germany, is possibly due to him wanting to be fed. He was last seen showing his support by wearing the Socceroo's Scarf

We wish both Australia and Germany well in the upcoming tournament.
